Such a great song. The kids were amazing ! I miss those days at Tussing when we would write, sing, and perform songs that we all wrote together about the whale!! Take care Hal🤗
Those were the days, Sue. I will definitely be including a couple of those whale songs in an upcoming episode here. I loved those times staying in that hotel - singing about the Tussing Farm.
Hello. My sister is singing in that recording! She was either in Touring choir, or the one below it, I'm not sure. I am also currently singing in scs myself in the performance choir (current name for the touring choir)! It's amazing to see how you were once apart of something I love, and you are now huge!
I just watched several of your videos playing the khaen. What a talented, unique, amazing person you are to keep on being creative in the midst of having CFS. I too have had CFS for 25 years and it is frustrating to live with so many limitations after the previous lives we led. But you are not letting that stop you and that inspires me to keep on keepin' on! Thank you Hal for being you and for sharing your writing, your music and your courage in the face of adversity!
I can't think of a Hal-ier song that this great work of yours! You've got the train sounds, the harmonica choir (!), the syncopated casual language, and complicated melodies that you taught them to sing from their hearts instead of their minds. I can just imagine you during rehearsals, teaching this by rote (I assume, right?) with your contagious energy. I loved it!!!!! Thanks for sharing, Hal!
You are an amazing man. An amazing light. I love reading your stories. And I have been to Summer Institute and enjoyed your music in person 3 summers. Keep your light burning, we all need you. :-)
Thanks for posting the inspiring words for ‘Father Abraham.’❤️❤️❤️ (Remembering years ago when President Lindoln had his own holiday, February 12………. and President Washington had his, too on February 22.
I call that “Mystery, with a capital M”! Love it!
Yes. Capital M. :)
What a great song and I am happy for those kids who must have had the best time singing and playing it. (-:
Yes. Every once in a while I hear from one of those kids (who are now adults) expressing their thanks. Thank you!

Thanks so much for sharing! Yes. The limitations are so difficult… especially as the weather is starting to get nicer. I’m glad you’re here. H
Honestly, that's a pretty incredible story. I love it! What other treasures are you going to find in all those hard drives?
❤️ I don’t think I’m gonna run out for a while

Beth. Thanks so much for recognizing the Hal-ness of that song. Yes… all taught by rote. (With music in their hands)
I’ve never heard this before! Thanks for unearthing & sharing
You're welcome, Karyn. Thanks for listening. :)
Thank you Hal, great to hear the children!
Thanks for listening, Trish. :)

Thank you Teri. It really love hearing that you're enjoying my stories. I hope to get back to SI someday. Hal
Is there an audio of this writing hal or .... Not this time
Thanks for asking, Emma. No audio for the writing of “A Body of Work” series… just audio for the music.
Sure thing it's a lot of talking
Amazing, Hal!
Thanks Matt! I'm really appreciating this little Substack world that has come into my life.
