Love reading your missives. I'm going to be in Kent March 15-16. I'll be intouch privately to connect. I'm so glad you have a bit more energy. Carry on. In peace, Jim
Hal im a bit too overcome to make a coherent comment. I so like your raw revelation of yourself and your inner experience. Thank you. I would like to remember you from time to time or follow you on here
Hal—I just read this episode, so I missed your Zoom by a mile. Sorry about that..
I turned 20 in the Army, in 1966. I too wanted to get out of there but knew I couldn’t, at least until 1968. It wasn’t much fun, but I grew up there. In the Army I was the lowest man on the totem pole, and figured I’d always be if I didn’t finish school. I had flunked out of Kent State in late 1964…when I got back it was all A’s and B’s (and very few B’s).
I have always struggled with insecurity, but it’s a lot less since I became a patriarch. Good luck on your next 40!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I will be sleeping at the time of your party here Down Under but I am so so so thrilled you are putting this together. Have the best time being with your people xx
I adored that song too. I'm 8 years older tho'. When I was 19.. I was living one Spring Quarter in an uninsulated cottage on Lake Erie. With 2 albums: McCartney's, RAM, and one of Canadian Bruce Coburn's, my roommate brought. No car, one space heater, 2 bikes 3 miles from Kent State, Ashtabula Campus. Sugar Mountain is kinda like that. Someone close shares your birthday. Halim El Dahb's was around then too. Zoom nice idea. What to wear, what to wear? P.S.: You can be 20 Hal. He sounds cooler than cool, part of those desperado years,. Yet methinks? Neil wasn't right about everything.
Wow! You were so self aware and insightful as a young man and still are. I won’t be able to make your party. But I want to thank you. My daughter has ME/CFS and you gave me hope, when she first got sick, that she could be able to continue with her creativity and helping others. And so she has! She is very fortunate.
Hal son! Thanks for the mention. I’m happy to hear that my passion for knitting has inspired you.
Be careful though, knitting can be an addiction.

You are so upbeat! Thanks for making a great start to Saturday morning! Happy Birthday
Happy birthday! I didn’t know that song so had to look it up which led me to another.
I’ll mark it down to Zoom but those questions sound cerebral!

Happy Birthday Hal! I wonder if one day you could knit Islamic geometric designs?!

Happy birthday! Knitting is the best, and I’m finding the 60s superior to the 50s.
Happy birthday! I too love Sugar Mountain and all things Neil ☺️
Happy Birthday, Hal!
