Thank you as always. I love the sound of your voice and all the truth you tell. You inspire me on so many levels. I have lived my whole life on the spectrum, highly sensitive, used and abused substances to cope, rediscovered spirituality after a lapse of about 8 years in an abusive relationship. I grew up in a very conservative religious home, and so even recovery groups were triggering. But I made it out alive. It's so good to know we're not alone. I will be thinking of you and praying for your joy, peace, and pleasure 🥲
Thank you for this, it’s so amazing to me to realize that this was the one thing I truly needed to hear in my life right now. Your thoughts on love and creating joy make me feel instantly filled with power for the day. This is my first time listening, I have loved your content and your music for a couple years now. However, I can’t believe that I was missing out on one of the greatest things you have to offer, which is your thoughtful, wise, and kind words.
Did you know that skipping is the top indicator of kindergarten readiness? My daughter took a dance class for three and four year-olds when she was three, and it was absolutely wild how none of the three-year-olds could skip and almost all of the four-year-olds could. Apparently it’s both kinesiological and cognitive. Anyway, I skipped half a block for you when I was out doing errands, and honestly, it wasn’t that great because I was wearing boots and carrying a bag. But I did appreciate being outside under a beautiful blue sky on your behalf.
This substack is different from all the rest. It seems to not be the morose Hal that is only mourning his loss, but a Hal that has adjusted to that grief and has moved on to embrace the life he has. Not to say the mourning is gone, but is at a different place. Love and peace to you, my dear friend. Annette
Oh, by the way, last Saturday I was skipping through a gallery at the Natural History Museum . It raised a few eyebrows, but so what? The grandkids and I were having fun.
I’m speechless. I needed to read this today and to be reminded of all we do in program. I’m so glad you found ways to survive this brutal disease. I miss talking to you too. Take care my friend. I’ll do a few skips today. 🏃♀️
Brother…You are an inspiration. Your inner strength, your commitment to meditation & your program, your ability to build yourself a community from your nest, your laugh despite the agony of living in your body. Keep on keepin’ on 🤍
Now I have to find out if I can still skip!!! I’ll let you know.
Hal I’m in awe of how you’re able to make your soul and its contents almost transparent... and translucent! You’re a deeply lovable human! Maybe we all are if we just let ourselves be seen. 💕
Each Substack you create is getting better and better, Hal. I like hearing about your routine and what you're thinking about day to day. Thanks for sharing as always. -E
Dear Hal, I love You, just the way you are! My CA daughter has long covid & pots syndrome. It breaks my heart to hear how this talented girl suffers. My eyes tear up just mentioning this. Know you are precious! I remember being on the plane to SF, up in the sky with you at the other end of the plane. Smiling at you!!
At 83 with a knee that n surgery, I won’t skip today but I do plan to Contradance at the Streetsboro community center at 4:30. I love the caller Carol Kopp and the live music. I am super happy that the dances will be the last Sunday of every month
