I am a physical therapist and good friend of Martin Keogh
I appreciate your words and your courage and passion come thru loud and clear way more than some that are all able bodied with boundless energy.. and thanks for introducing me to the 'can'
Hi Hal. i just happened to find this article while looking for something. I'm from Isaan, the very region this instrument is popular in. i actually own one of these handmade khaen myself! since my family has ties with mor lam music, and my mom used to be a singer, anyway.. It's amazing how you fight ME/CFS despite its difficulty, it's a bit of a coincidence, but i also have ME/CFS too. sometimes i'm bed bound for hours on end, so you can't imagine how happy i am to get representation on the big internet like this, Keep fighting, and never give up on the khaen! i really can't thank you enough with words, but i'm very grateful!
Wow. Thank you so much for this comment. I needed some encouragement today. You keep fighting too. I have 2 khans sitting over in the corner waiting to be played again. Someday hopefully... ❤️
Doesn’t look like Havancsek and Badagnani has been shorter almost his whole life I’m pretty sure. That guy looks taller. I’m not sure that’s either of them
Good morning Hal. I listened to your podcast today for the first time. I was amazed by the story and the beautiful music. As the mother of an old friend of yours (Michael Bateman) who is no longer here to celebrate and support your vision, I celebrate your vision and hope the “can” fest becomes a reality💞
I won’t be the chair of the organizing committee, but I think it’s a great idea to have a khaen festival in Kent. I would come to it myself. It would be a good excuse to visit the old home town.

Who is the person sitting near the Khaen? Yes it must be there because Hovancsek or Bagdagnani were there? Where is the party taking place?
The party is at my mom and dad's... long before I met either of those guys. I can't remember that guy's name, but maybe he brought the khaen. :)

oh its definitely not either of them-just wondered who he was. thought maybe Mike or David may have been there, just not pictured.

Good afternoon, Pat. Thank you so much for listening. I miss my old friend, Mike. ❤️
Great writing!
Feels a little grandeur, but I like it. It’s you!
Thanks Cameron!
Great story! I thought that was a Khaen in the old photo and just thought you had grown up with the instrument.

I felt your gentle hearted ness and genuine passion for contributing beauty to this world with the khaen. Thank you for sharing Hal 🧡
