I get it Hal. I really miss playing racquetball and going on hikes. Once in a great while I can play 9 holes on a par 3 course, but not nearly as often as I would like. It sucks to have to give things up because of CFS! Hope your body will get on a better plateau where you can enjoy some things again!

Great story ..

Bat ( or stick ) and ball have always been my thing .. my first ball sport I can remember at junior school was netball ( like basketball but with crazy foot moves and far better for short people 🙂.

Oh and I think was just for girls in the 70s/ early 80s .

When I was at high school it was hockey 🏑 we even played with a fluro ball in the snow ! Now that's dedication to the cause . I wacked someone's ankle once that wasnt a good move .

Next came tennis 🎾 my boyfriend belonged to a tennis club and so when I was 14/15 we would play there although he was having lessons so not sure if I was annoying for him to play with . I loved it though , I really loved it .

I also would play with my dad on holidays , he'd always beat me and make a big fuss about it and I'd always want to wack him with the racket...hard 😂.

Over the yrs tennis has been the one that's stuck with me with various partners . If id have had proper coaching I think I could have been really good at it . Still I was ok and enjoyed it a lot all the running about , sweating on hot days and doing a good back hand or lob.

With my dad in my 30s I've played table tennis, again he'd always beat me and let the world know although I started to accept him more and feel less like wacking him ( although the ping pong racket maybe would have done the trick better 😀. I also played golf with him once ( he is a very good golf player and has got many trophies and a hole in ones etc . He was a good teacher and I really enjoyed it , being out on the green , the joy of getting it in the hole finally . Apparently my ' handicap ' ( not sure that's a good phrase for ability ? Was pretty good .

I've also played badminton at times ( um it's ok bit weird and went through a small spell of squash with a nursing friend . That game wasn't for me , far to fast and trying to dodge an intensive rubber ball from hitting me as it bounced off the wall at 50mph wasn't my idea of fun ☝️.😀

I'm grateful I got to try all those things and know that racket sports really are the best ! To feel good at them and enjoy them is a great feeling ..

Now I'm more gentle yoga and blowing bubbles but I hey I'll take that too !

Omg Hal. I love everything about this. The pictures, the 9 year olds, all of it. May that ease find you again soon. ❤️
