Thanks for sharing this, Hal. We all learn care and concern from our parents and sometimes care looks like what your reader showed you. Blame. I, too, had a parent who would have a deeply fear based response when I needed tenderness and understanding. It was always centered around finding what I was doing wrong so I could fix it bc they were too afraid to sit with what’s not fixable. The gentleness with which you handled your reader’s ailment (bc they too are suffering from an ailment but it’s emotional - they are deeply afraid) modeled the compassion and support you hope to receive yourself. So beautiful. I feel compassion for them too. Not pity bc no one needs anyone’s pity but just love as we all (as Ram Dass says) walk each other home. Sending love as always. ❤️

Hal, I’ve written this to you before, but: even among the grief and pain and anger, I am so often moved by your radical (and non-bullshit) joy. I hope that others will widen their perspective enough to view that part of you when you’re able to share it. Have a good Saturday. ♥️

Your post reminds of of the Shakespeare quote from Hamlet: “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

Thanks for carrying the message, Hal.

Thanks Hal for your candor. You are not wallowing in your condition. You are choosing to live in hope. I’ve been the receiver of healing and also a slower healing and sometimes have to live with something for many years. Paul had a thorn in his side that never left. We don’t even know what it was. Yet he was raised from the dead after a few life extinguishing stonings. His life had more people to influence. So do you. Thanks brother.

I can really relate to your balance between sharing the pain and seeing the hope. I appreciate your bravery in openly exploring a “confrontation” of sorts - being confronted even within ourselves, by our beliefs - and coming out the other side seemingly aligned with your higher power’s will for you at this time. Still sending you peace and love.

Keep speaking your truth , it is yours and yours alone to share and I am filled with gratitude I get to witness it.

I am here for all of it. The good, the bad, the great and the difficult. It is all part of you and it is you I care so much to read the words of.

Keep doing what you are doing, my friend x
