Believe it or not, brother, your words are prophesy. Deep windows into wisdom. For those of us who just live our lives, often heedlessly, your words bring us different, difficult insights. I bet you’d rather just be heedless, and screw the prophet thing, but that’s not what it is, now. Sharing your world is a gift to us. And I know it takes a toll.

If you, and I, are still here in June, and I make it back to USA, I’ll bring you something.

Dear Hal, I’ve been in a post-viral crash since getting sick Feb 1. Starting to come out of it and will schedule with you for some quiet time together soon. Thinking of you and sending you love, light, peace, and presence. 💗🌀

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Lesson learned: take time to reflect, breathe and continue to love whatever life we have. At 81 I need to think about what may come next. You are a great role model. Listening to your podcasts are a testimony of fighting and accepting what is for you and me

Quiet is vital for all people particularly because of way modern society teaches us to to “do,do,do” and “go,go,go”: we have to spend more time Being Human vs a Person Doing particularly via nature…it’s what hugely helped me regain some vitality(though extremely difficult to do in many ways)

Thanks Hal,

You do an amazing service to us all, sharing your perspective, insight, love. I haven't been able to get to the song yet, but it's on my list. Wish I could send you energy, but love and support and best wishes/prayers are coming from me to you.

I’m an addict. I am a year sober from weed - after decades of addiction. I don’t drink or do any drugs anymore.

I was reading the recent transcript and I thought to myself “eat the fucking Ativan Hal! Who cares what happens - if it makes you feel better!”

But I’m not sure if that’s the addict ‘me’ talking.

I guess I wouldn’t take my advice. I mean my best thinking ended me up in a 12 step program.

But it begs the question. Why not use the medicine if it helps?

I mean worst case scenario, I could always zoom you into my meetings in DC, right?

Anywho - sending you love today. As they say in the program…’one day at a time’

"So that's what I'm busy doing here: quietly communing with a higher power, quietly communing with the part of myself that knows what the next right action is. Quietly communing with that hidden mystery that is living with me in this room. The hidden mystery, the love, the powerful love that abides in me."

^ This is EXACTLY what the part of me that knows what the next right action is wants me to do — to "do nothing" in this way — and I have been resisting for a long time. Thank you for being a witness and an example. Hearing you talk about it gives me strength and clarity. This type of nondoing is sometimes — maybe always? — the most important work there is.

I really love your writings Hal. I love you and pray for some energy and relief for you. The thing I love about you the most is the way you get yourself involved with other people in many different ways, I am honored to know you and as a cancer patient I know some of your isolation and loneliness. You are fighting every day and the sharing of your thoughts and feelings are a special gift to me. I wish I could just drop by and spend time with you in Gods presence. Keep writing, keep praying and keep being quiet in His presence. I plan to use this as an example to be more quite with Him and draw close to God and our fellow addicts. Its been a tough year and the highlight of it for me is getting to know you. Looking forward to the future and know God has some special blessings in store for us. Pat

I will continue to pray for you cousin- that in your alone times you will feel the presence of the one and only God of the universe in and around you. Hopefully sometime I can get down to visit. Quietly. 😏
