I loved this community-drenched farmer’s market story. One of my favourite bits: ‘Somehow, I felt the need to say, "Look at me... in a wheelchair. Can you believe it?" He gave a good response. He said,"Look at you out of the house, Hal!" He was right.’ Love that.
Thanks so much for reading, Elaine. I'd like to cut this piece down to 1000 words to submit to a journal called "Spoons." Your comment makes me think to focus on the Farmer's Market story. H
Hi Hal. Glad that you've been able to get out. I'm conscious of building my muscle strength again after a few months of not doing as much exercise. There's always something to work on!
Thank you for sharing the complexity of the journey. For me, finding the balance between accepting the reality of my current bodily limitations (chronic hip/lower back pain) and how much I can hope to heal the underlying issues is hard. If I accept the limitations am I giving up? If I keep hoping am I in denial? I’m grateful to listen to you explore your questions. Blessings on your day and the week to come.
I love that you are sharing your journey for everyone to take part in. I look forward to your posts and am always teary eyed and enriched after each one.
I am fascinated by the origin story of our name!! I feel like I need to go to Scotland and obtain some tartan prepared in the traditional method of our ancestors!
I’m with C Walker--stale urine?!?! Yuck! Now I may just call you Mr. Halwalker, especially since it was derived from bright sunshine, a far better image than pee.
Loved learning about the Traveling Stanzas Poetry Makerspace but you left us hanging by not sharing the whole poem!
I'm really enjoying your stories Hal...Glad you left the house, it's something I struggle with. I'll model some of your courage while I hang out with you...

Fabulous story telling
Thank you! That means a lot to me. H
Hal, your telling the truth of your day to day life mixed in with the story of a life fully lived is always fascinating
Stale urine?? Seriously? Dang. We do come from humble roots. LOL
Love you, Halwalker.
I know. I was glad to find that. I'm surprised I had never looked it up before. ❤️ Ms. Carolinewalker

Yes. Since then, I've been intentionally walking up and down the stairs a couple times a day. :)

Thanks for going along for the journey, Bailey.
Thanks, Hal! Glad to hear about, and see photos of you enjoying time last week at the farmer's market!
Thanks Kate. Let me know next time you're anywhere near S. Chestnut St. :) H
I'll do that, Hal. We hope to visit sometime in October.
I loved this post. I’m a pusher of a wheelchair that my 27 year old daughter rides.
Thank you, Elizabeth. I hope to read your story when my brain will allow. :). Hal

Thank you Hal we all love you too
Hey bud. Thank you for being there. H

Yes! Get me a tartan too while you’re there. ❤️

I considered that, but decided it wasn’t worth it. It was more of an advertisement for the farmers market than a poem. :)
I'm so glad you made it down to the market and am sorry I wasn't there to see you. I was having a rough day and stayed in away from the pollen.
Hey Kelly. I hope to see you some other time down there. We can talk about Wordle. :)
Glad you’ve been feeling better lately, Mr. Halwalker. ❤️ you right back and hope you enjoy many more good days ahead.
Thanks Suzanne! Have you been hearing my "Mung Beans" sound over on TikTok. :). It's huuuuge! Have a good day. H
Who knew it would take off like that?! Fun!!

Thank you!
So nice to know how brave you are and that you were able to enjoy the market!!!!
